"Our highest endeavour is to develop free human beings who are able of themselves to impart purpose and direction to their lives."

- Rudolf Steiner

Shining Rivers School is an independent, co-educational, non-sectarian school, located in the St. Louis metropolitan area, providing education beginning in early childhood, and is currently enrolling through Grade 6. We are a developing school member of the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America (AWSNA).

The Waldorf curriculum that began with the work of Rudolf Steiner (quoted above), is a unique philosophy employing an approach that addresses the whole child: head, heart and hands. The integrated curriculum presents developmentally appropriate concepts an atmosphere of respect for each child’s uniqueness. This balanced, comprehensive education integrates academic achievement with hands-on experience in an artistic environment. Humanities and sciences are blended with art, languages, music, movement, handwork and practical activities to meet the needs of the developing child.

Mission Statement:
"To provide an educational environment for the healthy development of the whole child by strengthening the child's affinity with nature, nourishing the child's sense of awe, wonder and creativity, sharing in the unfolding of each child's innate capabilities - particularly in the arts and sciences, and building a strong foundation for practical life skills."
